Environmental Liability Exposures Analysis
The USI ERMG can help uncover various environmental exposures that could potentially impact an organization. This involves reviewing client exposures from the perspectives of the substances used/handled, company operations, and the various environmental laws and regulatory requirements. In addition, each of the areas must be reviewed from a past, present and potential exposure to environmental liability.

This type of analysis is a crucial first step in the risk management process, as all potential exposures are not insurable, or not insurable and an acceptable price. Other risk mitigation tools must be applied.

Environmental Insurance Program Evaluation
Program evaluation includes the comparison of potential environmental exposures against the insurance policies in place. This follows the trail of hypothetical claim scenarios to evaluate how coverages might or might not respond. Structure is reviewed, including how policy limits interact with each other, where duplicate coverage might be available, adequacies of self-insured retentions, and the exploration of alternative funding mechanisms, such as finite risk options. This includes a review of traditional "non-environmental" insurance policies (such as general liability, business automobile, umbrella) for certain environmental protections that may be included and dovetailed with environmental insurance policies.

This is an ongoing process, as new claim developments and court cases bring different issues to light and may involve past and present insurance policies.

Environmental Insurance Policy Form Comparison
Environmental insurance policy language can vary significantly among insurance companies. New policy forms are consistently released. Insurance companies routinely enter and exit this market segment. The professionals at USI's ERMG perform complete policy analysis, uncovering potential coverage gaps that need to be addressed via additional endorsements or alternative risk management methods.

Environmental Insurance Program Development and Marketing
The professionals at USI's ERMG are experienced in developing and negotiating environmental insurance risk transfer programs and have solid relationships with the specialized underwriters. This advantage provides the USI client with a program designed specifically for the client, rather than accepting a "one size fits all" philosophy.
